BROWN DEER, Wis. (CBS 58) -- If you want a chance to win $1,500 and a complimentary meal for four, here's how.

Starting Tuesday, May 14, if you're in the Village of Brown Deer, make sure to keep your eyes peeled.

The Brown Deer Community Foundation is hosting its first "Medallion Hunt," and anyone is eligible to participate.

All you have to do is find a small medallion, handcrafted by local artist Jean Wells.

"I wanted it to be colorful. I don't know if that's good for a hunt or not though!" Wells said laughingly. "They'll have something totally unique."

The medallion is hidden in plain sight on public property within the suburb to make it accessible to hunters of all ages and abilities.

"You don't have to have any skills," Wells told CBS 58's Ellie Nakamoto-White. "You just have to get out, walk around, and use your eyes."

Wells spent two weeks carefully creating the piece, which she modeled after the logo of the hunt's sponsor, Cafe Corazon.

"We're excited. It's something completely new and different that we haven't been a part of before," said Kaylee Pountney, the restaurant's director of operations. "We're just excited to see what happens with it."

According to a news release, clues to the medallion's location will be posted on "Brown Deer communication channels and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and North Shore Now every Tuesday and Friday" until it's either found or eight have been published -- whichever comes first.

"The winner gets to keep the medallion," Wells added. "Obviously, people are more motivated by the cash prize than they are finding my medallion, but I wanted to create a true handmade work of art."

Both said this is a great opportunity to explore the village while supporting small businesses.

"We really just like to embrace the local community and do what we can to really be a part of it," Pountney said.
