35-year-old speaks out after grizzly bear attack: 'Insane how fast it all happens'
A veteran is speaking out after coming face-to-face with a grizzly bear protecting her cub and surviving to tell the tale. Shayne Patrick Burke, a veteran who has survived deployments in Iraq and even a brain tumor, has been through a lot but earlier this month, he was on his honeymoon with his wife, Chloe Burke, at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming when he encountered a new kind of danger -- a grizzly bear weighing about 400 pounds and with four-inch sharp claws. Shayne Patrick Burke recalled separating from Chloe Burke while hiking in order to track down a specific owl he wanted to locate but instead of finding the owl, he found himself right next to a grizzly bear.

Kate Middleton to miss Colonel's Review ahead of Trooping the Colour amid cancer recovery
Kate, the Princess of Wales, will not join other members of Britain's royal family at an annual event in June as she continues her recovery from cancer. Kate Middleton, the wife of Prince William, will not attend this year's Colonel's Review, the ceremony held one week before Trooping the Colour, the annual military parade, held to mark the reigning monarch's official birthday. In Kate's absence, a military general will carry out the role of Inspecting Officer at the Colonel's Review, to be held in London on June 8, according to Kensington Palace.

'Stop this war': Message from mother, displaced 18 times, who is fleeing the fighting again
Sumaya Samir Al-Tot, a mother-of-one in Rafah, Gaza, said she has been displaced 17 times. Sumaya is among one of the more than one million people, according to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), who have fled the southern city of Rafah in recent weeks. Israel’s assault on Rafah, which it says is essential to target Hamas battalions, has come under greater international scrutiny following a series of strikes on a refugee camp which killed at least 45 people on Sunday, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.

Actor in custody after allegedly stabbing estranged girlfriend, fleeing to Mexico border
An actor is accused of trying to kill his estranged girlfriend by stabbing her multiple times in her Los Angeles home, according to prosecutors. Nick Pasqual allegedly broke into the victim's home and stabbed with her with a knife around 4:30 a.m. on May 23, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said Wednesday. The victim, who recently filed a restraining order against Pasqual, was hospitalized with critical injuries, prosecutors said.

Senators demand information from VA about alleged 'flagrant misuse' of bonus money
Bipartisan members of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee have fired off a letter to Secretary Denis McDonough alleging that the VA flouted congressional intent when it approved bonuses totaling nearly $11 million to senior executives -- meant for other workers helping process new health benefits for veterans exposed to toxic substances. Democratic chairman John Tester of Montana and Republican Jerry Moran of Kansas, along with 11 other senators from both parties, are demanding more information about the VA's approval of bonuses to senior executives in the central office in Washington.

'General Hospital' star's friend who was with him before his death breaks silence
Anita Joy, the co-worker and friend of Johnny Wactor, is speaking out nearly a week after the late "General Hospital" star was killed amid a robbery attempt on May 25. Joy said she had needed time to collect herself and gather her thoughts before writing about the events which culminated in Wactor, 37, shielding her before he was fatally shot. "My friend of 8 years went from laughing together, working side by side, leaving our bartending shift and walking to our cars, to him dying in my arms in the streets of DTLA [Downtown Los Angeles] in the dark hours of 3am," Joy recounted.

As jurors begin their second day of deliberations in former President Donald Trump's criminal hush money case Thursday, sources say Trump's legal team feels that the longer the jury deliberates, the more they're hoping for a hung jury. The former president is facing 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with a hush money payment his then-attorney Michael Cohen made to Stormy Daniels in order to boost his electoral prospects in the 2016 presidential election. Trump has denied all wrongdoing.

As New York City jurors deliberate over whether to convict former President Donald Trump on charges that he falsified business records to hide a payment to an adult film star from the American public before the 2016 election, it's still not clear how President Joe Biden would address a potential guilty verdict. While generally speaking, running against a convicted felon could be a political gift, the Biden campaign is unlikely to dramatically alter its messaging if the jurors find Trump guilty, a senior campaign official told ABC News. The only way to stop Trump is at the ballot box, the official said, that Trump's future is up to voters, not the court.

North Korea sends balloons full of manure and trash over the border to South Korea
Around 260 air balloons carrying bags of manure and trash have been spotted across South Korea on Wednesday after they were sent over the border from North Korea, according to South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incident reportedly stems from an incident on Sunday when North Korea criticized civic groups in Seoul for sending propaganda leaflets across the border first and subsequently threatened to send filth balloons back to South Korea as a countermeasure, ABC News has learned from the North Korean vice defense minister on the regime's official news outlet. The regime in North Korea has long complained about this type of action as civic groups have been known to send rice, essential medicine and leaflets accusing the North Korean regime of dictatorship.

Person killed after being sucked into plane's turbine engine on runway
A person has died after being sucked up into the running turbine engine of a plane at Amsterdam’s international airport, officials said. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines made the announcement on Wednesday that a “person ended up in a running aircraft engine” of a plane that was bound for Billund, Denmark at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, according to KLM. “A fatal incident took place at Schiphol today during which a person ended up in a running aircraft engine,” KLM said following the incident.

A bystander was shot as a suspect and police exchanged gunfire at a Kroger grocery store just outside of Cincinnati, on Wednesday, police said. Authorities were dispatched to the Kroger on Springdale Road just before 4 p.m. ET following a report of "shots fired," according to the Colerain Police Department in Colerain Township, Ohio. The suspect then pointed the weapon at officers "and gunfire ensued," he said.

Judge largely denies Scott Peterson DNA testing request in bid to prove innocence
A California judge largely denied a motion by Scott Peterson's defense team for new or additional DNA testing in his case, as the Los Angeles Innocence Project seeks evidence proving he didn't murder of his wife and unborn child. The LA Innocence Project, which took up Scott Peterson's case last year, had requested 14 items be tested or retested for DNA. On Wednesday, a judge in San Mateo County denied the request for all but one item -- the duct tape recovered from the pants of his wife, Laci Peterson, at the time of her autopsy.

John Lennon's 'Help!' guitar sells for a record $2.9 million at auction
On Wednesday, the first day of its "Music Icons" sale at the Hard Rock Cafe New York, Julien's Auctions sold a Framus 12-string hootenanny acoustic guitar used by John Lennon to record several Beatles classics for a whopping $2.9 million. According to the company, that makes it the most expensive Beatles guitar ever to sell at auction. The guitar was used by Lennon to record songs for their 1965 studio album "Help!" and film of the same name, helping create some of the band's biggest hits of the '60s.

The National Transportation Safety Board said Wednesday it is investigating a deadly natural gas explosion that rocked downtown Youngstown, Ohio. When 11-year-old Luke was getting ready to be adopted, he made one special request which was to invite his fourth-grade class at Brookland Middle School in Brookland, Arkansas, to watch his adoption get finalized in court. Luke's May 14 adoption was the culmination of months of bonding, a process he and his parents, Cassie and Bradley Kissinger, said was nearly instantaneous after they first met at a "connection event" hosted by Project Zero, an Arkansas nonprofit dedicated to promoting adoption.

HPV vaccine can reduce risk of multiple cancers in men, new study suggests
Nearly two decades after the launch of the first HPV vaccine, mounting evidence shows that people who got vaccinated are dramatically less likely to develop HPV-related cancers in adulthood. HPV is a common viral infection that causes an estimated 690,000 cases of cancer every year across the globe, according to researchers from the World Health Organization. The virus infects specific tissues, predisposing patients to develop cancers – including cervical, anal, and head and neck cancer.
