The South Dakota State University (SDSU) Jackrabbit Athletics team is growing! We are seeking an additional position as Assistant Coach for Men’s Basketball. As a university committed to both academic excellence and athletic achievement, we are looking for an individual passionate about coaching, mentoring, and shaping the next generation of talented athletes. South Dakota State is an NCAA Division I institution located in Brookings, South Dakota. SDSU competes in The Summit League for basketball.
The responsibility of this position involves assisting in all aspects of maintaining a successful NCAA Division I basketball program by assisting with internal day to day operations of the men’s basketball program and assist the Athletic Department in achieving the goals for student-athlete development.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree by application date;
- At least one year of extensive knowledge and understanding the sport of basketball and familiar with all aspects of men’s basketball;
- Self-directed and motivated;
- Effective communication (oral, written and interpersonal) skills;
- Ability to work nights and weekends; and
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- General knowledge ofNCAAmanual and governance structure; and
- Knowledge of team travel, recruiting practices, summer camps experience, collegiate basketball related experience, and Division I experience.
